i wouldn't be so aggravated by this scenario if the lady had at least looked concerned even slightly distressed, because I don't know exactly what happened (though, I probably do)

so, I'm taking a cart back to the warehouse, when I see this kid (I have no clue what peoples ages are, I've always been bad at guessing, but like not a toddler, but not a preteen ???). normally wouldn't phase me, toys are near where we're standing, but she's crying, so I ask her if she's alright, and she says she can't find her mom, and she had apparently said she'd be in (specific section). standard procedure, call a manager, and we go into code adam (i feel like everystore I've worked at has this). so, we head to the front, to page, because the kid at least knows her mom's name, when they kid suddenly sees her mom. she runs over and hugs on her. her mom is standing there, talking to someone casually, and only moves to lift her arm to let the kid hug her. like, she was not concerned in the slightest, didn't appear to be looking for her kid, and was literally no wheres near where she told this kid she was gonna be, for fucks sake.

and once again, idk what was happening but i can't think of any scenario where it's okay to leave your young child alone in a store and leave the area you told them you would be.

People die on the job every summer. Remember that water and shade breaks are crucial when working in the heat, and calling emergency services for signs of serious heat illness (fatigue, nausea/vomiting, headaches, dizziness, clammy skin, confusion, agitation, slurred speech, high body temperature, rapid heart rate, etc.) is entirely appropriate. If you’re afraid to call 911 for reasons such as being undocumented, you’ll need to get very familiar with how to prevent, recognize, and treat heat illness. If you are symptomatic and not allowed a break, water, or medical treatment, walk out. No matter how broke you are, your job is not worth your life.

just a reminder - do NOT boycott streaming services or not watch new things. the unions have not called for one for a reason. for one, it affects residual payments, which as minimal as those currently are, actors are still getting them during this time, and for two, studios will use lack of viewership as an excuse to cancel shows because you are showing them there is no demand. it deeply affects the industry the writers and actors stand to come back to once the strike is over

Also: going to these places puts pressure and demand on the company. Demand they can’t meet without actors and writers. That puts stress on them, and stress is good.

^^^^ive been looking for a rb with this addition because YES. if a customer wants a burger and there is no cook to make it, that puts pressure on the owner to pay the cook what they want so the customer will still give them money. if there is no customer, the owner has no reason for the cook to make burgers

Stop watching IF AND ONLY IF the unions call for a boycott. For the time being since they haven’t, streaming the shows actually helps. You’re not crossing a picket line to watch because that picket line does not exist unless a boycott is called for.
